I've always been attracted to the creative process in all its forms. Painting has opened my eyes to a new way of seeing colors, shapes, patterns and textures and I've felt compelled to put those images on canvas and camera as a way to express myself.
San Diego is a haven for artists because of its natural beauty and fabulous light. The area's shores, parks, and scenic landscape motivated me to begin painting and studying photography at local workshops and classes. I was invited to paint at Studio Cha Cha Rose in La Jolla, California and from that experience I created a body of work to show at The Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. My acrylic painting, "The Butterfly Effect" is now on permanent exhibit there.
I was later commissioned to develop an installation of 33 photographs for Scripps' fourth floor. I focussed on sea, sky and serene scenes of Torrey Pines, La Jolla, San Diego, and Maui that evoke a feeling of calm; like a lovely dream. This was a collaborative effort meant to bring a breath of fresh air to the space. I call this collection "The Healing Power of Nature" and have dedicated the images to the staff, patients, and visitors at Scripps. In addition, my art is presently displayed at the San Diego International Airport in the Travelers Aid/Airport Ambassadors office, The Scripps Research Institute, and in private collections from coast to coast.
I hope that when people view my work they are taken to a place of peace; a pleasant day dream that can be called upon as needed.
Thank you for being here. Enjoy the scenery.
